Privacy Policy

Effective September 22, 2026

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use TheOarShop, we may process account information such as your name and email address; your linked OpenSim avatar information; marketplace purchases, sales, balances and transaction references; OAR listings, images and descriptions; support communications; and technical information such as IP address, browser information, session data and security logs.

2. Upload and seller confirmations

When you confirm that you have rights to distribute an OAR, or acknowledge the marketplace seller fee for a paid listing, we keep an audit record that may include your account, the OAR title, listing type or price, the fee rate presented, the exact confirmation wording and policy version, acceptance time, IP address, and browser/user-agent information. These records may be retained even if the listing is later changed or removed.

3. How we use information

We use information to operate accounts, link avatars, provide marketplace and Free OAR features, process TOS$ activity, maintain purchase access, provide support, prevent abuse and fraud, improve reliability, enforce our Terms, handle copyright or legal complaints, and maintain business and accounting records.

4. Public information

OAR titles, descriptions, thumbnails, seller or attribution information, source/license details for imported free content, and other information intentionally published in a listing may be visible to other users or the public. Free Public OAR URLs are intentionally accessible without a website login.

5. Service providers and legal disclosures

We may use hosting, storage, email, security, and other service providers to operate TheOarShop. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our agreements, investigate abuse or fraud, protect rights or safety, or respond to valid legal process and intellectual-property complaints.

6. Cookies, sessions, and local storage

The site uses session and security technologies needed for sign-in and normal operation. Your browser may also store preferences such as the light/dark theme choice. Blocking required session technologies may prevent parts of the site from working.

7. Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including account operation, purchase history, accounting, fraud prevention, rights enforcement, dispute handling, and legal obligations. Some transaction, legal, rights-confirmation, and enforcement records may remain after a listing or account is deleted.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. No online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security, and users are responsible for protecting their own account credentials.

9. Your choices

You can edit certain profile and listing information through the site and may request assistance with account or privacy questions. Some records cannot be immediately deleted where they are needed for completed transactions, legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
